103 Final Project ( My Idea)

I have been going through many topics in regards to the final 103 project. The one that stood out to me the most is African - American women in the media. For a long time, I always had it in the back of my mind that African - American women were treated very differently than others in the entertainment business. Being that it's so broad, i have to figure out if i want to pin-point this problem when it comes to radio, big screen or on the small screen. Whatever area I decide to go into, i know that it will be a lot to research. This is a huge problem so I look forward to doing this project because not only can I say things that I know about it already, I can also learn a whole lot more.

    Well, considering our readings, you might want to think about looking at the portrayal (or use) of African American women in the science fiction film.

    hmmm this is just me rambling mabye.. but

    I don't like the who hyphenated American deal and the media uses this term alot... Why must a people be "African-American" and why in that order.... think about it...
    Also why do we think of "White" people as Americans.. why dont arent they identified in the Media as "Irish-Americans", "German-Americans" ect ect....

    I hope gives you an idea or in someway helps...

    I think its a good topic, you could talk about different stereotypes of African American women,how they sometimes try to make them appear whiter on the camera when it comes to newscasting.
